This two-day workshop is held with upper level managers who have significant responsibility for a business unit, or a manufacturing plant. The workshop outlines the structure and benefits of the Business Operating System. Managers perform a situational analysis, review the strategy, and identify critical success factors and performance measures, which will be relevant in monitoring the progress of the company.
Figure 2 shows an outline of the process of selecting measures. During the workshop, the managers often gain tremendous knowledge of how the business is run and how the various sub-systems are connected.
Not all performance measures will be appropriate for the organization. Therefore, it is important to evaluate measures against the following checklist.
