Implementing a Business Operating System:
A Systems Approach for Achieving Bottom-Line Results
How to Implement the Business Operating System
Some of the components described may not necessarily be unique. However, the ability of the system to generate bottom-line results depends on how well these components are integrated and the type of culture that exists in the company to support the concept of the Business Operating System.
Some of the cultural issues include:
- The ability of management and supervisors to clearly articulate the vision.
- The congruency of the goals and direction of the company
- The use of recognition and incentives which support the performance measures
- The style of leaderships that supports participation and inclusion
- A belief in the value and creativity of the people
- An understanding that while the Business Operating System builds accountability, its objective is not to blame individuals but to identify system constraints that can be addressed.
I have developed the following steps to implementing a Business Operating System. This is based on methods that have been used and that have yielded significant bottom-line results.
