The Power of Six: Creating the Database and Team
We began our work by creating an initial database to identify the major issues and to set benchmarks to track our progress. Using the database, we reviewed customer rejects over the past six months and created Pareto Charts by customer, part number, rejects, shift, time, and other relevant metrics. Our implementation plan then centered on the six largest issues and areas impacting the results.
We created six cross-function teams to deal with the six largest issues. The teams consisted of members from Quality, Engineering, Production, Work-Cell Operations, Finance/Accounting, Sales, and Human Resources.
