Focus on Lean
Lean principles and techniques provide benefits in cost, quality, and delivery. Lean permits the production of goods without wasting resources. Waste reduction adds value to the organization and customer through a quicker response time, synchronous flow, less down-time, lower production cost, less inventory and faster changeover.
As described in The Machine That Changed The World by James P. Womack, Daniel T. Jones, and Daniel Roos, Lean can translate to: “half the hours of human effort, half the defects in finished products, one-third the hours of engineering effort, half the factory space for the same output and a tenth or less of in-process inventories.
