Assessment/Evaluation

Performance Management is the practice of actively using data to enhance the overall performance of any group or organization. Companies that have embraced the basic concepts of performance management or may wish to begin a journey of establishing a totally integrated system may begin with an evaluation of the current state.

Purpose

Every performance management system should go through periodic reviews to evaluate whether or not it is supporting the overall direction of the company. As an external entity we will conduct an objective evaluation and present a list of corrective actions or recommendations that will determine the areas for improvement.

Method

For a two day period we will conduct a series of interviews and observations to:

  • Review the overall strategy and direction of the company
  • Review the structure and deployment of the performance measurement system
  • Identify conflicts that might exist as metrics are deployed
  • Review the metrics used at each level – types and definition of each metric
  • Evaluate how the strategy is aligned to the various processes and activities
  • Evaluate how and when the data is used
  • Assess the cultural environment that exists that may support or inhibit the performance measurement system

Outcome

At the end of the two-day period, management will be presented with a report that outlines the results of the assessment and a detailed list of implementation actions that need to be in place to improve or upgrade the performance management system.
